Aderon™ technology refers to the combination of DEF201 and a vaccine. DEF201, the faster acting drug, provides patients with rapid antiviral protection (~3 hours) which persists for at least 30 days. The vaccine component, while very effective in preventing and controlling a wide variety of human pathogens, are slow to act. The fastest vaccines require up to a week before providing protective immunity, and often require booster doses to achieve immunity. Aderon™ provides rapid protection and long-lasting immunity, the best of both worlds.
Using Aderon™ to extend both the efficacy and applicability of vaccines vastly expands the functionality of existing vaccine stockpiles by reducing the number of vaccine boosters required, decreasing the necessary dose, and/or extending its efficacy to include treatment as well as prophylaxis; thereby revolutionizing vaccine usage for biodefense applications.
